Things to do with a rental car Albany based (Part 2)

Welcome to part two of our ongoing series on what to do with your rental car Albany, Auckland or North Island! We’re still in the Auckland region and you’d be amazed the things you can see and do just a few hours from the City of Sails!

The Coromandel

One of the most popular holiday destinations for Kiwis and tourists alike is the Coromandel Peninsula. Only four hours away with a rental car, you can explore this wonderful place in a single day, but we recommend that you spend at least a couple of days here to really appreciate the place. Cathedral Cove is the famous scene found on postcards all over New Zealand, but the hiking and trekking around the Cove is definitely something to check out.

With over four hundred kilometres of coastline around the peninsula, you’ll have no problem finding a nice fishing spot. The Coromandel not only has some of the best fishing in New Zealand, but also in the entire world. There are regular fishing competitions if you’re a keen fisherman, so be sure to check online for dates and times before you go.

An absolute must-do if you take your rental car to the Coromandel is Hot Water Beach. This remarkable beach lets you create you very own personal hot-tub! An hour before and after low tide each day, simply dig yourself a wee hole in the sand and let the water fill up around you. The geo-thermal activity underneath heats the water up and gives you something that can’t be found anywhere else in the world.

So that’s the famous Coromandel Peninsula, only a few short hours away from Auckland. With some of the most pristine beaches in the country, the area is also a hub of arts & crafts, so there’s something for everyone! Remember, if you’re looking for a rental car, Albany based company Realistic Rentals can give you the best deal in Auckland!
