Two Auckland attractions you can visit with an Albany rental car

If you find yourself in Albany and are looking for a rental car, then Realistic Rentals are the people to call. Auckland is such a wonderful, picturesque city, and it is definitely worth taking your time to see, but if you’ve only got a day or two and time isn’t on your side, there’s no need to worry, there’s still a lot to see and do! These couple of attractions are a great way to see what the City of Sails has to offer. With an Albany rental car, these two places are both within 10 minutes of the City Centre!

North Head historic reserve

North Head is a familiar Devonport landmark and definitely worth exploring if you haven’t already done so. This small area is an important slice of New Zealand’s defence history. The wide views over the Waitemata harbour and the Hauraki Gulf provided the perfect defensive lookout for early Maori settlers and again later for defence authorities during World War II. The remnants left here make it an important historical coastal defence site that spans over a Century of Kiwi military history. With our Albany rental car, you can drive to the top of Mt Victoria and see the great view for yourself, or take the 2 km walk which explains the military history of the area, such as the armaments, tunnels, searchlights and defences that were placed on the headland. All easily accessed with an Albany rental car!

Western Springs

Western Springs Park is a sanctuary for both people and wildlife. Beautiful grounds, surrounding a stunning spring-fed lake, (which is one of Auckland’s earliest water supplies) it also encloses two of Auckland’s most popular attractions; the Museum of Technology and Transport, and Auckland Zoo. Explore the park by means of a well-developed network of foot and cycle paths that include boardwalks through the wetlands and a walking track. There are also picnic tables and a children’s playground. The lake is a refuge for native eel (orea), who can be seen trailing the swans and ducks. Facilities include BBQ areas, drinking fountains and toilets.
